A lot of people might know Jim Suhler as the lead/rhythm guitarist for George Thorogood and The Destroyers, playing at all of their shows and on all of their albums since 1999. Jim Suhler and Monkey Beat have been playing and entertaining audiences for 22 years. The Dallas, Texas based group is known for their no-holds-barred approach to blues inspired rock and roll and blues music. Jim and Monkey Beat have released four albums on the Lucky Seven label. Shake was released in 1995, Radio Mojo in 1996, Bad Juju in 2001, and Starvation Box in 2003. Jim released a solo acoustic album in 2002 on the Topcat label and followed that with the whole band on the same label in 2009 for Tijuana Bible. Jim also released an album on Blacktop records with Mike Morgan in 1994 and another album on Topcat Records with Alan Haynes titled Live at Blue Cat Blues in 2000. Jim and Monkey Beat’s two newest releases are on the Underworld Record label: Panther Burn in 2014 and their newest one set to be released on June 17, 2016, Live at the Kessler. The band’s current line-up is with Shawn Phares on keyboards since 2000, Beau Chadwell on drums since 2011, and Chris Alexander on bass and backing vocals since 2014.
