Ellis Kell Band

Bandshell, Saturday, July 2

5:00-6:30 Ellis Kell Band

Having been a staple in the Quad Cities blues scene for over 25 years, the Ellis Kell Band almost needs no introduction. Not only have they literally done it “all”, from club gigs and fundraisers to festivals and sharing the stage with some of the greats like BB King and Johnny Winter, but they are also huge supporters of music education, especially for the blues. Bandleader Ellis Kell is the Director of Programming & Community Outreach for the River Music Experience, spearheading many music education programs throughout the year, including a week long program dedicated to the Blues each winter. Bandmates Terry Hanson, Tony Hoeppner, “Detroit” Larry Davison, Rick Stoneking and John Burchett have also been ambassadors for the blues and music education, assisting with programs both at the RME and through the Mississippi Valley Blues Society’s Blues in the Schools programs. The Ellis Kell Band have earned the title of “Best Local Blues Band” countless times from numerous Quad Cities publications, which is easy to understand once you witness their amazing talent, energy, and comradery live on the stage. Their music continues to be infectious for dancing and appeals to ears young and old, as they present a timeless sound of blues, rock, and roots influences. Please welcome to the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival stage for the 7th time over the past 30 years….the Ellis Kell Band!
